Treatments Offered- IDET (Intradiscal Electrothermal Therapy)

IDET is recommended for Low Back Pain due to Degenerative Disc Disease (DDD) that is responsive to Epidural Steroid Injections. In this procedure, a special catheter is inserted into the disc. The catheter is then heated using a heat-generating device. This results in destruction of pain nerves inside the disc and strengthening of the disc tissue, thereby reducing the discogenic pain.

It is an outpatient procedure, done under local anesthetic with conscious sedation. Patient should avoid repetitive bending or heavy lifting and wear lumbar support for 6 weeks after the procedure.
